    Unhappy Shelf-side reinforcement problem?

I was about to make my first overnight test today when i discovered the folowing ...

My Blackbird hasn't been in the trees more than 4 times and i haven't even slept in it once but the reinforcement is tearing out of the seams.
The seam is fine it's just the black patch tearing out of it..

My body is pretty much UL at 70kg (174pound) and i have not tried to jump around in it or anything .. Only user error i can imagine was when an insufficient knot let me slowly to ground level when checking it's 2person potential (second person wasn't heavier than me though and it was a slow decent not a crash..

    What could be the culprit?

I can't imagine a slow decent causing that!
I assume you've already contacted Brandon?

I am assuming it is my fault although i cant see how it could have happened.
I will contact Brandon, i didn't want to bother him seeing how much he is usually tied up in gear-making and answering questions ..

Thank you for your super fast reaction Cannibal !

Strange week.. breaking a cupboard, getting a tarp with improper seems, Blackbird falling apart .. i must be emitting something bad

    True, he is crazy busy.
However, I know he takes his building of hammocks fairly personally and I've no doubt he will want to see what happened. Maybe it was just a bad section of stitching, but I'm sure he'd rather know for sure so that it doesn't happen again.

    2person potential? You're both about 70kg (174pound)?
    I dunno...140kg (350lb) is pushing the limit of 1.7 double (I'm assuming)
I'm not sure what Brandon rates the 1.7 double at...Personally, I would NEVER intentionally put that much weight in mine just as a test...but that is me.
WOW...350lb and the stitching is coming loose? Really?

I've had more than that in mine, recently too.

I admit that I missed the bit about two people. Were you or the other person using it as a lounger (leaning back)? That might put some weight in an area that wasn't designed for those kinds of loads. Just thinking out loud.

We were in there for maybe 20minutes, some time was sitting but taking care not to lean against that ridge

Animalcontrol, she's probably lighter than me but i assumed the BB (talking about the 1,7oz double layer i have) should support us with ease aslong as we dont abuse it.
I did check the 2 person weight limit with Brandon before i bought it and i'm not blaming him but looking for the cause.
Besides it is not the stitching that gave..

    OT EDIT:
Just wanted to clarify i'm not blaming Brandon..
and for the socks, well i just cant understand why one would wear two socks that look the same when you can wear two different socks , besides i think it's a funny symbol for not being one sided

Sorry, I didn't look/read your post closely enough...I now see that it is not the stitching
and I was just poking a little fun at you before...I apologize if it offended you. It was not my intention

    good point about the socks!
