I just moved to Colorado a little while ago. I'd definitely be down to hang.

Welcome to the forums and to the state - hope to see you at the hang!

If I recall, the first hang I went to which was at the same campground a few years ago during February, it got down to about 0 degrees. Maybe I'm wrong on that. But I remember it being VERY cold. It was my first time in a camp hammock. I got a little cold the first night, but adjusted for the second. Cold as can be, but still fun as heck. Don't be afraid to bring extra gear.

fartingOWL here, and a late-comer to this thread! I'd like to come to this hang (my 2nd) -- Saturday for certain, and hopefully I can get Friday afternoon off work to make that day happen too. Any car-pools from Denver in effect? If the roads to be traveled do not require 4WD, I can take one or two more.
Oh man, I don't know about that. Upper 20s was probably fine, but I don't know about single digits. We just aren't prepared for that. Our only bags are 45° bags, and I mean... I could bring a ton of blankets and some comforters and stuff, but jeez... there's gotta be a point where you get diminishing returns on insulation.
Now I'm worried... I don't know if we can pull off single digits...
I'll bring a box of Hot Hands - a couple of them spread around inside your bag will keep you warm all night. I've used them with great success when my gear wasn't exactly up to snuff.
If that fails, hot water inside a Nalgene can keep you even warmer. You'll be camping with a bunch of people who know cold-weather camping, and we'll make sure you have all the opportunity in the world to stay warm.
You need to get some better bags/top quilts though

Weather.com shows 57/31 Friday, 47/29 Saturday, and 47/31 Sunday.
Figure on about 5 degrees colder due to the elevation, and with a buffer for comfort, preparing for single digits is wise - but that doesn't mean we'll actually get to single digits.
As someone who has had to leave early from a cold-weather group hang once in the past (in this case because the dogs couldn't handle the temperatures), I'll tell you it's way better to try it and have to give up, than to never have tried. Remember, this is car camping - the absolute worst case scenario is that you burn some dead dinosaurs to get yourself warmed back up. There will be a lot of people here with a lot of options for gear to borrow and help keep you warm. We'd hate to see you miss the hang on a "maybe".
Agreed. We may never break the 15° mark, but having played in these mountains for a bunch of years, I've learned the rule of preparing for worse.
Kyle, don't sweat it. The last winter hang we had a Burning Bear there were at least 4 brand-spankin-new hangers (one of them a child) and that hang was in February! So far, (knocking wood) we haven't found anybody's popsicle remains in the morning.
Trust nobody!
