Are there any downsides to Whoopie Sling Suspension

The only problem with the strap in this arrangement is that you wind up with the full length of whatever strap is left after going around the tree...or wrapping several times around the tree to shorten the effective length. By using a Marlin Spike Hitch, I generally put the toggle within a few inches of the tree and adjust my whoopie slings for length.

You can still set the MSH with everything connected, if you need to. Youll simply bypass the triangle in the pictured set-up and put the loop over your toggle as you normally would.

...The only thing holding me back on that is that dutch clips are loose and I would need to be careful not to lose them. Maybe I drill a small hole in the clip and tie it to the hugger.

I sewed that end extremely close to the clip. It would have to be cut out. No way that it will come loose on its own!

i don't like any of my suspension separate either. bad enough i leave stakes behind. set mine up as photo. strap is WB. slings are opies and stitched in dutch clip.

Where did you get the triangles?

At least you don't leave Lekis at the trail head. That company has to love me!

I wish someone made pink tree straps.... If I could find some I would pay for them and use them.

Ok I did this right. (first time posting a picture) This is my version of a strap with a key ring in the end loop attached to the Whoopie sling. My Slurpee straw toggle is also attached to the strap. You can also see how the Dutch Clip is sewn on for those who have not seen this before. The Whoopie is 2mm Dynaglide. Im not sure if I will use this configuration or not. I have already taken the key ring off. May try something else instead of the key ring. Didnt like the way it snagged the webbing. Ill have to play with it to see if I like it or not. I have no problem with the straps being separate but figured plenty of people are trying it so I might as well try it to.
