So after using a stock claytor suspension system for 3 years now I am making the switch.
I have chosen to go to a cinch buckle system. It looks a little easier and no slippage to worry about. So here is what I have gathered, please add advice and words of wisdom wherever you see fit. Thanks in advance for everyone's help.
I started with the cinch buckles recommended by Just Jeff. http://www.onrope1.com/store/index.p...d=118&parent=0
Next I plan on heading to the climbing store and picking up some nylon webbing. 1 inch thick to fit the buckles and rated at at least 1000lbs. I saw some last time I was there that was rated at 3800lbs and I think I'll probably go with that. Any thing I missed here?
I will also need 2 carabiners. I figure I will take the advice of the climbing store on these although suggestions would be welcome here as well.
Climbing rope: Just Jeff reccomends spider line, I am not familiar with climbing rope so I will just ask for it by name at the climbing store. I also plan on using the same knots to attach the rope to the buckle. 2 questions...
How much in length do I need?
Is this the best option for a claytor since I will be threading it through the channel as oposed to tying it to the end of the hammock?
as seen here of course http://www.tothewoods.net/HammockCampingSuspension.html
I am not an experienced sewer by any stretch of the imagination so I plan on tying the webbing to the carabiners. Any knot suggestions or should I really look into learning to sew?
Any other tips would be appreciated as well. Thanks in advance for everyone's help.
