    1/1/11 backyard hang

Think I'll spice things up a bit tonight and cheat on my WBBB.
Here's my HH Desert Rat with 2Q/ZQ Mod4 and USGI Extreme Cold Weather bag. Gonna go topless tonight, too.
Not a cloud in the sky so I'll be able to enjoy the stars all night long!

    Weather forecast for tonight:
    35* by 3am and 32* by 6am

It just seems weird seeing no snow on the ground in January. I'd still be using my 3 season gear with your balmy lows down there...

Beautiful night with all the stars overhead as I browse the forums from my iPhone. However, this Desert Rat isn't as comfortable as my single 1.1 WBBB.

Don't get me wrong. I like the Desert Rat but it will either be relegated to warm weather use or go up for sale. The 2Q/ZQ mod4 definitely improves the original design but I just don't think I'll be using this hammock much anymore.

It is 1* outside with just about 1hr left of this fine day (1/1/11).
Enjoy your hang under the stars...

    Have to abandon ship!

Between fireworks (yes...still popping them around here...argh!) and the 3 dogs constantly wanting to jump in/out while vying for my attention, I'm really not able to do this tonight.

Just as well. It's cozier inside with my wife!

Dang, I was looking forward to your report. I must say I have hammock envy with your desert rat and mod4.

I absolutely LOVE the mod4! It really opens up (no pun intended) the possibilities of the HH. I like being able to be free: no net, no tarp, can look all around, and don't have to zip/unzip to get in/out. I'm really bummed that I wasn't able to hang last night.

The ECW bag is just crazy toasty. While it takes me a bit longer to get settled since I have to crawl into it and wiggle around to get comfortable, the benefits are worth it.

I have my new 5-in-1 Jerry Chair and HH undercover installed on my WBBB ready for the next hang. When not using the ECW bag...the cool thing is that the 5-in-1, HH undercover, and my modified AHE XL New River can go right from my WBBB to my HH Desert Rat and fits perfectly!

I guess I better get started on that stove so I have bargaining chip when you decide to sell the Desert Rat! Hah!
