Pending approval from Significant Other, I've already notified work that I'll be taking off that Friday.
I've got a guy from work who wants to go.
I'll be there no matter what.

Sig O has cleared the date. I'm all in.
The way I see this, we will have the following types of folk showing up:
1. Friday afternoon arrivals: either local or long distance guys who have taken Friday off to optimize the weekend. I count myself in this group.
2. Friday evening before sundown arrivals: locals who live close enough to head out after work, or long distance guys who got a late start.
3. Friday evening after sundown arrivals: Locals who got a late start after work, or long distance guys who headed in this direction right after getting out of work.
4. Saturday arrivals.
I think that there will also be some hard core hikers, some less committed hikers, and some just barely car campers who will want to hang around the enjoy the campfire fellowship
Looking at the Trail Guide, there appears to be a site that might accomodate all of those goals. Parking Lot #2 at FS Road 211 (GPS: N30*30.637' W 95*45.420') is 3.4 miles from Trailhead #1 on FS Road 219 and 5.3 Miles from Parking Lot #3 on FM149. The Trail Guide desribes the area between mile 3 and 3.4 as:
"There is some relief to the land in the form of several small rises."
This is west of Parking Lot #2. I'm thinking that one of those small rises might give us the opportunity to adhere to the rules that campsites not be in view of the road and at least 300' from a Trailhead, provide some small convective breeze to cool us down a couple degrees at night, and keep us out of any wet spots.
It would be a good fit for the almost car campers, safer for those coming in after sundown, a good hike for the hard core hikers if they park and come in from Trail Head #3, and a nice walk for the less committed hikers who can come in from Trailhead #1. It also gives everybody the ablity to cache water and food at or near the parking lot and slack pack in.
My plan would be to get there as early as possible, cache some water, hike in a bit till I find a nice little rise and pitch the Hammocks, then swing up to Trail Head #1 and hike in. Big breakfast Saturday AM, then explore and hang. My buddy will park at Trailhead #3 and we'll hike out that way Sunday AM (unless his wife has other plans for him on Sunday, then we'll do it Saturday afternoon) and then shuttle back to my truck for the trip home.
Any other suggestions? I'm open to durn near any scenario I don't have to get nekkid for, and several that I might.
Should we start a new thread? Looks like it's now the LST Butt Bake...8-17 / 8-19

Lets do it.
I looked at the contour map in my Basecamp program and there is a nie rise to the west southwest of Parking Lot #2.
You would head west from Lot #2. About .2 mile from the parking lot there is a trail intersection (red route) right after a stream crossing where you would turn left, then ross another stream about 480 feet from the intersection. About .2 miles from that is another trail intersection. This is the highest point in the immediate area---370 feet. Its about 30 feet higher than the parking lot and 60 feet higher than the lowest point at the stream bed. Good landmark, .2 mile from a watersoure, and likelynsome good hanging spots omn the slope for convetive breezes.
Whaddya think? My only concern would be for folks arriving after sundown.
Anybody got a supply of glow sticks?
