Normal seam allowance was put in the plans. But if you were planning on doing the falt felled seam that takes a little bit more fabric than the normal seams. Even if you don't add in a little extra for the flat felled seam it wouldn't change the overall shape that much.

Thanks looking forward to getting started
The only concern I had was if the bug mesh would be too tight

The bug net is somewhat stretchable and conforms to the shape of the hammock.

Speaking of bug mesh..... Any suggestions? I have a tent that as soon as you zip up the screen, no breeze comes through. I was just wondering are all bug meshes created equal or do certain brands breathe better than others?

All bug mesh is pretty much equal as for letting in air. It will let in more than solid fabric but it defiantly isn't as airy as no net at all.

    Hey guys,

I know this thread is pretty old, but I'm about to start making this hammock this weekend and had a few questions.

For the seams where it says to reinforce with grosgrain, could I instead do a flat felled seam? More aesthetically pleasing in my eye. But if its there for structure I won't skip it.

Second, some people have asked if they can use 8" bug netting under the zipper for some more visibility. Has anyone tried this? Do I need the strength of the nylon here too?

That's all for now and thanks in advance if you have any advice,

    Moko

Moko - I just finished one of these (pictures still to come). I used noseeum for the 8" part by the zipper. My first trip with it is this weekend, I'll share how it turned out.

I got the idea for it from seeing the video of the new XLC and figured it would be strong enough.

One word of caution, I took the 8" out of my main piece of bugnet without making sure I would still have enough width left for the bugnet piece... Long story short, the shelf side has a little extra ripstop in place of where the edge of the bugnet should be (close to 8" by coincidence).
