I love the snakeskins for my tarp, but prefer the black bishop sack, stuff sack with a hole in the bottom, for my hammock. Not sure why. Probably because I've never tried the snakeskins on the hammock. When I make them, I don't usually try to get them too tight, since that only makes it stiffer to pack later.

I also don't need to furl my tarp around the ridgeline because they are little fat. I just kind of start at the staked out edge of the tarp and roll both sides together towards the ridgeline.

Was wondering where they are available as well. Hennesey is the only game in town now, right (which seems kind of bogus given the number of other sock-like and tubular products out there honestly)? They seem to only make one size anymore. What will that fit?

This may seem silly but I am curious if the tarp is wet and you put it in the snake skin won't it make the inside of the snake skin wet, and so my question is do you hang them inside out when you get home, but what if you are on an extended trip can you do the same?

    Norseman,

I made my snake skins out of NoSeeUm bug netting. No need to dry them out as they dry just sitting on the tarp guy lines with the tarp deployed. In fact right after the rain stops there pretty much dry.

I think HH has a patent on the snake skins, and they have come after shops in the past for cloning them. Or so I've heard.

I hear ya.... how you can patent a tube of fabric is beyond me. Seems like something that could be challenged with USPTO if someone had the gumption (and money).

Looks like whatever Hennesey is selling or make your own are the only options.
