COMPLETED: Apology to forum members

Hammock forum members, I have screwed up and I am sorry. I was messaged by several members with interest in the BB I had for sale. One member was the first to say he wanted to buy it. He and I exchanged a few messages about details and my paypal account. He sent a final message with a few more questions and I typed a response and assumed that I sent it but he did not receive it and now I cannot find a copy in my sent box.

In the meantime I had not heard back from him mid-morning today and assumed that he was no longer interested. In the meantime another member pm'ed me this morning to buy. I sent him my paypal account and he immediately sent the funds. Shortly after I received an email that member number one had sent me the funds.

This is a screw up that I am not comfortable with. I feel that it is unfair to member number one but then again member number two sent funds in good faith. Member number one was first in line but I assumed that he was hesitating. I have a dilemma that I do not think the King Solomon trick will work.

Again I am so sorry. This is the greatest site with some of the best people.

In my personal opinion, I think the best thing to do might be to apologize w/ explanation to member #2 & refund his money.
Then send the merchandise to member #1.
Hopefully member #2 will be understanding & forgiving.

I would look at the PM that lead you to send a Paypal request
and try to ascertain the level of commitment . . .

I do not envy your situation . . . and like that you brought it forth.

PS. I guess the take home lesson is we don't need to be in a rush to sell here.

Well I have refunded member #2's money and am sending the hammock to member #1. Member #2 is a victim of my impatience and I am truly sorry. Member #1 is a victim of my type a personality. I realize that I cannot make both perfectly happy but member #1 was the first to ask for my paypal account. He cannot be penalized for the time zone difference and for my ineptitude.

Thanks everyone for your input. Bottom line is I have live with my conscious and while this decision is not perfect, it is the one that I feel best with.
