Since my last post here I have modified my DoubleNest to have a whoopie sling suspension. I'm really happy with the results.

i want to check out the whoopie slings, i have the slapstrap pros now, and i hung my single nest about 2.5 off the ground, when i woke up at 3 in the morning my UQ was dragging on the ground in the mud. i don't know if they'll take some time to break in of if they will continue to do that, either way i want to give the whoopies a try. even as far as weight go, i think they'll help, which is enough to convince me. i don't mean to hijack this thread regarding the slapstraps, but i saw you guys talking about them.
    Peace!

Whoopies on A DoubleNest is definitely on-topic for this thread. No stretch, no fuss and easily adjustable. They are a great answer for any hammock. A very simple mod for the ENO as well. Just thread the end with the buried loop through the hammock end channel, replacing that black cord and feed the rest of the sling through the loop to form a larkshead. For a double I would go with the 1/8 amsteel since the weight rating is so much higher. Also get hold of some 6' tree hugger straps with loops sewn in the ends and you're good to go.

Ease of adjustment and no stretch are the primary factors for switching from the slap straps to anything else. Even if you like the design of the slap straps.. Have someone, or you can do it if you have a capable sewing machine, copy the design using polyester webbing instead of the nylon ENO uses.

I recently converted my dblnest to Opie's whoopies with straps and toggles, and couldn't be happier. My son went with Paul's webbing and cinch buckles and loves them. Both offer less weight and easy adjustment with no sagging.

I use my slapstraps as tree huggers. I replaced the stock rope and biners with amsteel. The amsteel goes through the huggers and are tied off with a marlinspike hitch! Works great! Is that JRB 10X11 11 FT long or wide? If 11 foot long that is perfect size. I may buy one.

It can be either - there are enough tieouts all around so you can hang it either way. I have done both.

    Love the whoopies!

I love my Doublenest and whoopie sling setup. I sleep in it everynight and over the past 3-4 months, since putting them on, I've NEVER had any problem whatsoever with the hammock or whoopies!

IMO, it's the only way to go. Both for weight, ease of adjustability, no stretch, and strength.

personally-i love my Doublenest with slapstraps.i have never had a problem with stretch in mine but if i did that may turn me off but...i haven't.i have no scales to weigh anything other than myself but i can't see how-whoopies,biners and 6ft treestraps could possibly be lighter than the pro slapstraps-anyone ever do the actual weight comparison
