UQ wind blocker?

Dri-ducks Poncho worked for me. ($15 sale priced most times) Plus it's still my daytime rain gear while hiking.

Procedure:
1.I made small slits on the end hem and threaded a string through. With a cable lock , this allows me to trim the ends.

2. I sewed fabric loops on the four corners. When I use it as an UQ, I add elastic line and two cheap carabiners to fasten to the suspension.

I've only used it to windbreak my underquilt, which loses all insulation capability when the wind blows, but, no reason it wouldn't windbreak with nothing else under it.

AND, by the way

The same poncho makes a nice top cover/enclosure on a breezy night over the ridgeline ,snapping one end at the head end and the other closed by snaps on the other end where it ends up around your waist.

Just sayin!!!

The poncho is a multi-tool with many uses.

I bought an UQP from 2QZQ for just this reason. Worked for me. It also adds a few degrees comfort when I do use an underquilt. I am planning a modular setup. Summer car camping with the family and fishing trips the UQP keeps the wind off avoiding the chill on 60+ degree nights. Hammockgear Incubator 40 degree w/2 oz overstuff and UQP for scouting trips and bow seasons where temps are expected to be above freezing. Hammockgear Phoenix 20 degree with 2 oz overstuff over the Incubator and under the UQP should get me down to zero.

My 2QZQ UQP works find for me. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet (too hot) but I think it will hold up a thermoflect blanket just fine to make an impromptu UQ of sorts.
