FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )
Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

Locked brummels (loops) on each end of the 7/64 amsteel measuring the loops squeezed together and pulling tightly off nail in board for exact measurements. Even tho pulling as tightly as possible for a "best" measurement. Once you install it, it will stretch tightly and gain a inch or inch and half tightening the bury and loops. In the testing, I had a locked brummel loop at one end, and other end after burning up about 40ft of amsteel I used a buried loop only and could pull it out lengthening or even shortening by more burying to increase or decrease my lengths and finally after a week or more of testing, decided, for me,,37.5" lenght was maxing it out to anything shorter on both ends was increasing instablitity. I wanted the both ends to be the same so that the fit on my tarp tieouts, was equal to the ends of the hammocks as you would offset the tarp tieouts if one end was shorter than the other end of the hammock. I have slept in it every nite, and its comfortable as all get out. Now remember, to shorten the head end, if you do shorten it from stock length, your advised to remove the 4" extension piece on the spreader bar from 39.5 down to 35.5 or you might stress it out bending or breaking it. I use my hiking poles with Brandon's pole end attachments and it works great. I also used Dutch Ti Beiners for testing and removing different sizes of amsteel. Much much quicker and super easy with Dutch bling!!
