As far as making the tree huggers. I took 30' of webbing and made 2 7.5' straps and 1 15' strap. Cut to length, burn the ends and tie a loop in one end and your done. No sewing needed. It holds me @ 245lbs. And yes there are videos on making whoopie slings on you tube. Use the force Evoex. Google, youtube and shut are your friends.

I don't use a biner. I just run the tag end of the strap thru the loop. It works fine for me. I didn't see the need to add the extra weight.

+1 to this method. I used dutch clips for a bit and then decided they were unnecessary also.

I'm heading out this weekend with my scouts. Gonna be testing some DIY gear and shooting some video. Not sure If the big hat is gonna make the trip. But I will give it some thought. I'm sure some fun head gear will show up.

LOL I found that out the hard way. 6' barely cuts it. Next time I head your way I may be brining 8' straps.

Ditto on that...need longer straps. One time my straps were too short, luckily, I had just made some extenders from amsteel....amsteel with 2 loops on the ends. It saved my butt...
