WTB Rope for whoopie slings (newbie)

I'm just on the verge of becoming a hanger! I was finally able to afford to buy a secondhand Hennessy Hammock from an acquaintance (my first hammock ) but it lacks a suspension system because he cut off the ropes it came with and the Tree Huggers weren't included either.

I have some webbing that I can use for tree straps, so all I need now is two Whoopie slings or, better yet, some rope to make my own. Does anyone have any to sell? I'd prefer the satisfaction of making my own, but if someone has a set of pre-made slings they no longer use, I'd also be interested as I'm eager to try my hammock out.

    I live in Ontario, Canada.

    Many thanks,
    - Martin

You can get Amsteel Blue in Canada from http://www.redden-rope.com 7/64th is all you need for whoopie slings and the last time I checked it was $0.17 per foot. As for length you need about 14' to make one whoopie sling that has 6' of adjustment. The extra accounts for the bury lengths for the fixed eye splice and the adjustable loop.

    Cheers

    Thanks Hoot and BrianWillan.

I had actually looked on the Redden Marine site and learned that they sell Amsteel 7/64 for 23 cents a foot, which seems perfectly reasonable, but I could not figure out how to get a quote that included the cost of shipping and handling.

It would seem one has to give them more than just a zip or postal code for their order form page to calculate the total with shipping; they require one's full name, physical address, e-mail, even phone number...just to find out how much shipping costs are. I already get enough unsolicited mail and e-mail, so I wasn't willing to go any farther on their order form page.

On other sites, the shipping costs were easy to determine, sometimes they amounted to double the cost of the rope itself...so, I thought I'd ask if anyone here had some they weren't using and wanted to recoup some of what they'd spent on it.

Does anyone have any idea how much Redden Marine charges to ship 30 feet or so of Amsteel? If not, I'll just send them an e-mail and ask what they charge.
EDIT: I entered some phony personal info on the order form (but an almost accurate mailing address), and I now see the shipping cost is 28 dollars for under under 7 dollars worth of rope. That puts even DIY whoopie slings way beyond my budget, I'm afraid

I will say shipping to Canada is pricey. On top of that, I was told 2 weeks ago that international was going up as much as 50%.
    It'll be alright Friday!

Thanks hairbear. I just checked the price there, and if I understand correctly, a pair of completed slings, specifically made for a Hennessy hammock is only $15 plus $3 dollars for shipping to Canada. That's very reasonable indeed.

    Gratefully,
