adding loops to underside of tarp

I have a wb bmj in spinn that I will be using on a trip soon. Unfortunately I wont be able to hang. Id like to use a bug net tent I own with it, but have nowhere to hang it from so I'm thinking of adding a loop in the middle of the ridgeline on the bottom side of the tarp.

I can't sew so I'll have to get my wife to do it for me. Suggestions on how to do it and what material to use for the loop would be appreciated.

Try running a continous ridgeline under the tarp and using prussiks to attach the net. No sew. And it works.

What he said, especially if trees are used as poles. Also, I've used a GoLite ShangriLa Nest 2 under my Superfly and have just run lines on the back and on the front to the trekking poles. It sags a little in the middle, but it's not bad.

i wouldn't want to run the risk of maybe weakening a very good tarp.
tarp over a tautly strung crl would be more versatile and i believe you will be happy with the outcome. that's just my opinion

Thanks for the suggestions. A crl is a great idea and easy. Sometimes you just need others to think for you.

Not to overstate the obviousness of your comment, but if he is hanging his tarp between 2 trees, I can't see why he wouldn't also hang his hammock on said trees.

Not necessarily - but maybe. I sometimes can't hang because I have my kids with me and we need to sleep side by side, so I bring the shangrila and pitch the Superfly over it. And in that setup, trees are easiest.

Roll the tarp material up, so it wont accidentally wrinkle and go under the presser foot, to just before the "ridgeline?" (I don't have that tarp, is there a center seam?) and use grosgrain ribbon for the loop. I assume you want to run the tent dome poles through the loop. I would try to keep it small if that is the case. Just melt the ends of the ribbon a little, overlap and straight stitch a box, or a few lines. I wouldn't sew to much, so as not to weaken the material, and I would go for a longish stitch length.

The BMJ should have the little split rings at each end of the ridge for the doors... I'd suggest just running your CRL from those??? or from the webbing loops that the rings are attached to??? Then prussic off the CRL for your netting???
