    Polyester Webbing

In the boating section at walmart there is a product called "winch strap" made by attwood. These are designed to haul a boat onto a trailer so they have to be strong. It consists of a 20 foot piece of 2" polyester webbing with a large hook. The weave looks like it may be seatbelt webbing.
The cost is just under 10 dollars so if any diy-ers need some tree hugger webbing you might have a look.

Ddi you happen to see any specs on the webbing?

I've used the webbing from the Harbor Freight ratchet straps with excellent results.

I didnt see any specs, I might have overlooked them though.
I have been around these straps for many many years. While im sure they break under extreme loads, I have never witnessed a failure. A boat I have used for a long time had a very old faded and chaffed winch strap. We routinely tightened this strap so tight it would no longer "twang" when flicked. I'm pretty sure supper taught HH wouldnt even compare to the tension this raty strap held.

"Wench strap", huh? That sorta thing is illegal except behind closed doors in a lot of places...

Does the package say it's polyester or give a suggested safe working load?

I believe that's an Attwood WINCH strap. The 2" polyester strap is rated for winches up to 2000lbs. The tension these baby's are put under when pulling a boat up onto a trailer is much higher than any hammock will ever see. There have been times where I've been frightened by how taught the winch strap gets when trying to get the boat all the way onto the bunks and up against the stop.

I got some seat belt webbing at the store I work at and I fixed it all up in this system and it works fine with no noticable streching.

    Nice, looks tough.
Was the webbing taken off a roll or did it have another intended purpose?

Yeah we sell it by the meter here. so I snatched some to use. The Cadetes and army reserve fellas use it to make personal webbing system for their bags. Looks like seat belt material. 4 different sections of weave run in opposite direction down it lenght ways.

lighter then my old rope system and far less stretch.
