    Tarp Pole Mod

Wilderness Logics has just added a new "Tarp Pole Mod" that's fantastic. I saw it in action over the weekend on a group hang with Marty from Wilderness Logics. We had high winds 30+ mile hr. gusts and it stood strong. It's now high on my wish list!

2Q/ZQ has been doing pole mods for a couple of years now. Top quality.

    That's unfortunate.

It's a shame that more folks don't patronize the vendors that introduce an innovation, rather than others that copy it. Rewarding the innovators is a good practice.

This isn't about you, or WL, or anyone else. Just a general thought.

I'm very interested to see it.

I've recently done a pole mod to my OMW that I took on the Hike'n'Hang this past weekend and and we had some serious winds both nights. Performed flawlessly. The set can't weigh more than a few ounces and the poles never touch the tarp. I was thinking of doing a write up on how to do it since the principle can be applied to ANY tarp with pullouts and don't have to worry about wearing through your spinn or cuben (if it's possible).

I wonder if the WL mod is similar to mine or if they went another direction with it.

    It's clearly from here.

Haven't seen it, thought they might have opted for the big pole underneath through the middle.

    Well.. there you have it

It sure does very closely resemble the half-pole method Paul employed. The WL mod seems to pull the tabs more severely up instead of out. That image has me worrying that the pullout would rip off, but maybe not.

it wont, but you can't adjust the tension with that mod.

They also have to do it that way because they place their pull-outs closer to the ridgeline, so if they tried to anchor it any closer to the actual pull-out they'll pull they're ridgeline flat. That's why it looks like they've added an extender as well.

That is why I gave up on modding my OMW and ordered the AHE Hard Rock Winter tarp.
