Personally if this is indeed a 50*F quilt I think snaps are overkill. I used my quilt on my 50+ mile hike in 2011 in late June and I NEVER put this thing in footbox mode. Just draped it over me around 2am when it finally became "cool". My set up with the lacing seems perfect for the particular weather I will be encountering in the summer season which is what this quilt is meant for IMHO.

I can compare. Just the right length is very nice, even if you weren't asking about other (small) differences in weight.

If this proves to be good to 35-40, then you will or should care then about the snaps and tie at the top.

I've tried omnitape for the footbox from two vendors. I really don't want to be curious about how much of it has come undone later in the night after I've heard early in the night the sound of partial separation getting into it. HG's 3-4 snaps have done me well, and maybe one top snap would improve those omni-taped products that I accidentally kick partially apart getting in.

Yeah, was thinking that standard would be plenty. Adam is now showing a short size (69" vs 74") as well, so wondering if that might be pushing it too much. . .

Interesting. Lighter weight and more insulation is good but don't want to add the clammy feeling back to the equation either. Anyone have first-hand experience there? Water Monkey, isn't yours the momentum?

    Thanks!

I seem to use my warm weather footbox as much for keeping the quilt under control as for the warmth. . .

I agree with your sentiment. A 50 degree quilt will work 70% of the year for me here, so I'm trying to look at all of it. The omnitape question is what let to my wondering if there was a tie or not as I've had just the omnitape footboxes open like that in the middle of the night

Thanks for all of the input everyone!!

Well I have Omni Tape I added to my JRB TQ but added a tie loop at the top near my knees to keep it closed. Has worked well. I take the time to seal it well as it will snag a sock now and then if I don't. Minor deal.
    Just another opinion......!

Thanks, Shug. I've had the same experiences with my JRB. Was kind of curious if Adam added a tie loop as well.

Still gotta' give them a call if I can get life to slow down for a minute

Well, just pulled the trigger on a 50 degree Burrow, Regular Width, Short Length with snaps. Went with M50 fabric inside and out to save a little weight.

Talking with Adam was great and sounds like they're finally getting settled in. He seemed really pleased that he could sit at a desk to write

The anxious waiting begins. . .

Just got my 50 degree burrow! Great craftsmanship and the size seems perfect. Weighs in at 10.2 ounces which is even lighter than the single layer IX TQ that it replaces!

Planning to try it out tonight with a video that will follow.

Thanks, Adam! Nice work and a week earlier than expected!

Heck yeah! Pics pics pics! Mine should be soon to follow. But at 86" long mine will probably hit the 13+oz mark. Hard keeping up with the "Medium" Jones'
