Yep, it snowed all day here in Kalispell, Montana and only got up to about 45. Not a bad day otherwise. I've heard rummers that a big bright thing that puts off heat in the sky exists in some parts of the country but I’ve only seen it for a few minutes. We’re leaving for Iowa soon so we may get to see that bright thing. Of course, I heard that where we are going they are having floods. Oh well.
I will take winter hiking and cold weather camping any day. No sweating and no bugs. Just 14 hours of darkness.

Hung out couple nights ago in the HH testing out the pad between it and the shield. 40F bag and still ended up waking up to pull on the fleece. Checked the keychain thermometer (probably not to accurate) hanging on the ridgeline at sunrise. Read 42F. Onshore breeze resulted in a high of only 48F for the day. Has been unseasonable cool up here. My uke luthier noted it was +100F that day in Austin, TX. Falling asleep listening to a timber wolf howl and wake up to singing sounds of chickadees made it a pleasant but cold experience.
i was working outside all day in cheyenne today wearing a sweatshirt with a coat over it. sunny, but there were raging cold winds all day. probably 40+ mph gusts. i guess its the back of the front that came through. we didn't get any rain or snow, but some really ferocious winds the past 2 days.
If you slept with any form of an underpad in Alabama this past weekend, you melted. And, if you slept without a tarp, you drowned. And.... if you slept without a net, you were eaten alive.
