Looks like a great location choice BigFoot2. I can never plan that far out but will keep this on my calendar.
Mt Hood area is my old stomping ground and would love to camp out there again.

Can I suggest we stay away from the Gorge? Especially Eagle Creek/Wahtum Lake due to the high traffic and numbers of backpackers on weekends in that area. I did that backpack over Memorial Day Weekend last year and it was a complete zoo (yeah, I know...holiday weekend, etc).

Or if we do the Gorge, how about Herman Creek? Cedar Swamp Camp is 8 miles in and has plenty of trees for hanging, although it's in the wilderness area so technically, our group needs to be 12 or less.

I'd really like us to find a spot on Mt. Hood somewhere...or even out near Estacada. Elk Lake is an option. As usual, I am happy to go out on a scouting mission once the weather is more cooperative.

I have never been to one of these hangs before...

Do you just show up? or book a couple of trees on the Park Reservation System?

I would love to come and if I happen to be home from a trip could make the drive down there for the weekend easy enough from here!

Knock yourself out. If you guys find a better spot, let me know. Keep in mind that it needs to accommodate up to 30 plus hangers this year, as I am inviting the Boy Scout troop that is our charity this year along.
Make sure you take pictures of the spot so we can all see, too.

What age are we talking with the Boy Scouts? Middle School? High School? Just curious what their skill level is in the woods. And since we are having Scouts with us, I am assuming this will be a "dry" event?

Don't assume anything. I said i'd "like to see" if they could possibly come along. We'll just have to wait for that answer. What locations were you looking at as alternatives?

    Ha!!!

I have some ideas for alternatives, but really, I can't offer up concrete suggestions until the snow melts...I just don't think the Gorge is a great idea. Too many car clouters. I'm sure GaryR has some good ideas too...especially out around Estacada.

Only other option would be Browns Camp but that time of year it would be crazy do to all the offroaders. It would make the winter hangs snow mobile's seem quiet.
We have found a lot of the sights are pretty much full on Thur. normally we pick our spot to Hang on Thur. stay around until Sunday. Last year there were a lot of people with the same idea. Lots of noisy kids running everywhere, I was surprised none became entangled in our hammock lines!
