Water is preferred but if car camping not really a big issue.
Mt Hood and 3 Sisters I guess are out due to fires.
So headed towards the Coast is best plan.

I arrived in Portland today. I am excited to meet the local hammockers. It was fun to be reunited with the nice TL hammock stand left here in July. : )

North coast would be preferred, perhaps Cape Lookout, Nehalem, or Fort Stevens? However, if weather is crummy we could try something inland along river/tributaries.

Coast itself might be an option but I was refering more to the 2 hwy's running out that way.. Maybe in the Tillamook forest?

That sounds better. Less breezy at any rate. Thoughts on some of these? (Just the first page that popped up when I was browsing around) http://www.oregon.gov/ODF/tillamooks...pgrounds.shtml

The places I know of are dispersed. No fees, no host telling you you can't hang a hammock from a tree, few people. There is a fire ban so no camp fires. There is a nice spot next to the river that can accommodate several hammocks and vehicles. There are a few nearby trails as well.

    Count me in!

Moving to Portland has been... Challenging. But I finally made it. I should be free next weekend and can't wait to get back out in the woods! Where are we going again?

Looks like somewhere off the Wilson River. (HWY 6)
I'm hoping to be able to run a quick scout trip over there and get the Mile marker and Coordinates.

I ended up finally getting some more free time this week and will spend much of it Hanging. Wednesday I am headed back to Eagle creek to do the Tanner Butte Loop, will come back out earlyish Friday and head straight to this Hang.

Going to be a good week!

Along a river sounds wonderful. Jackleberry -- where did you move to? I've been wondering if you got settled.

Wish we could have headed up there today. This night shift schedule is killing me. It really takes away from the weekend. Gots to make that money though.
