Gotcha beat...rjcress said to cut the bottom of the tail off, so I decided to give it a try. Then the light bulb came on.

Chain, bolt cutters, a little sanding and a couple of minutes.

    Who wants them? Only $4.95 + $5.95 S&H.

I almost tried it with a washer I had laying around yesterday just to see if it would work, but I talked myself out of it. I like the chain tho'. The check's in the mail.
    Good luck,

I liked the "tails" for tying off, so I added them back to the "chain link". I have two tensioners that I like now, so it's time for a new project.

I made a few using Redoleary's first design. A set weighed in at 19 grams. Oh ya, the set was 4. So about 4 to 5 grams each. What are you using to get such a great finsh? I just have a few hand tools that I made mine with and they are rough looking.

To get that lightly frosted finish, I use wet or dry sandpaper in various grits to smooth out tool marks followed by several hours to a day in a vibratory tumbler with coarse sand as the media. The sand doesn't work well as a cutting media. I need to try some of the sandblasting materials.

I got in a hurry on the last tensioner I made and didn't do enough hand work or leave it in the tumbler long enough. As a result you can see several tool marks on it.
