i finally got around to using Picasa to put a folder on the web so i could just give a link for anyone interested.
so here's a few shots from last week end in the mt rogers area.

the first night i had a friend w/ me... second night just me & the Creator.
    soooooo peaceful.
maybe some of you (ewker) could id some of the plants.
i wore the hammockforums shirt & talked to quite a few people about hammocks. more than not seemed genuinely interested.
night time lows were 59 & 58°f. nice sleeping weather.
    ...tim

nice pics Tim, did you camp at the same place you did last Thanksgiving?

The Wood Sorrel was right. The 4th pic looks like a dead Trillium. I am not sure about the ones with berrys or the tall plant.

HOI is the flower/tree expert. Hopefully he wil check in and see this post.

I will send you my webshots link from last weekend in the Smokies. I did get pics of a couple of bears

yep, i choose the same two trees. nice view & a breeze.
besides, the ridge runner told me that the water source at rhodo gap was the better water source over thomas knob & pine mt.
i thought about you & the creek dancer when i was getting water<g>. i believe that's my 1st encounter w/ either of you.

Tim, thanks for sharing the pics and movies. Looks like you had a beautiful place to hang, glad you had a good trip. I'm with NC Patrick, next time you head that way, let me know. I'd love to go some time.

Not too bad, I'm sure the drive would be worth it. There are a few more places I want to hang this year, and Mt Rogers is one of them, along with RRG, Mt Mitchell and somewhere in Transylvania Co, NC. I have the Transy Co trip coming up on a camping trip with my son at the end of this month. I'm hoping we can find a good campsite/hanging area near Looking Glass falls or Sliding Rock. If anyone is close and has the time, they're welcome to join us.

Edit: It's about 5.5-6 hrs for me to get to the Mt Rogers area.

Hi Hooch, let me know when you're planning your Sliding Rock trip. I'd be interested in going, if it works out schedule-wise.

NCP, I don't have exact dates set in stone yet. However, as it stands now, I have from July 29-August 5 off, so it'll be in between there somewhere. We're planning on spending 3 or 4 nights there and then going to Charlotte/Hickory area to visit family and friends a couple days.
