    DIW "WarBird" WBB style hammock

So I had to have a camo Blackbird... and I needed to justify the extravagant ($30) craigslist thread injector :-) I attached my notes as a word .doc The "Warbird" is out for it's maiden flight this weekend, so pics are on the way!

    Waiting for pics!

I'm thinking about making a "Snowbird" for my winter camping.

Nicely laid out. Thanks for the instructions. Definitely looking forward to pics!

I might just have to give this project a shot...

Any chance you can post your document in pdf format? When I open in Word part of the instructions are pushed off the page, probably a font issue.

I'm intrigued by the idea of a Snowbird hammock. Wonder if anyone makes snow camo ripstop?

I'm working on another hammock for a friend's kid...

Reading this thread made me think: Is it important that the body be perfectly square?

The instructions from 1022 said that he squared up the fabric by following the heavy thread on the ripstop...

    Thoughts?

Nice instructions. I do believe that the shelve and footbox are all one piece on the WBBB and it has a reinforcement patch over the connecting neck. If you cut it out all in one piece it should look something like a skewed hour glass. I am curious to see how yours turned out, I have tried both ways and found the one piece construction to be easier to attach the bugnet and to keep from having strange puckers in the bug netting.

In your instructions you mentioned that bugnet has an odd shape? I posted some instructions on how to add a bugnet to a WBBB/Jerry5 clone. I found it it to be a pretty easy process once you get the basic shape figured out. I will try to find them and post the link.

I don't think it has to be perfect, but I have found that when doing a double layer if one layer is not square with the other I get some weird stress points and wrinkles and even a change in the lay of the hammock. I square mine by measuring and cutting the bed all at once.

    Windy Pics

We camped on top of Lehigh Gap, on the AT in some 50+ mph winds ! A geat trip, but not good photo weather my hammock looks like a para-sail. I snapped a couple of pics with the hammock fully "inflated" by the wind. the slightly oversized footbox is visible
