    Tried the sleeping UQ

Getting ready for my first outing in a hammock and it will be cold. I am on a strict budget and need to stay warm so I used an old sleeping bag tied to a paracord ridge, old yoga mat from wife with a camo blanket and my 0 degree Kelty as an OQ. Worked well in garage, temp down to 40 and I was warm. Not the best but worked well, slept in it last night. I am thinking of doing the poncho liner mod to cut down on weight when funds allow.

If it works for you then great. Looks like you to need to be able to cinch up the end of the sleeping bag as it looks like you have a massive gap between it and the hammock which will allow cold air to get in which will result in CBS. Always good idea to test your setup in controlled conditions

That looks like a weighty setup, but also I agree with gunner... You gotta get rid of that gap.

The gap is gone when I am in it, nice and tight. I am looking for a sewing machine as we speak to make a UQ. Yes the bag is very heavy but I will be hauling my gear with a pulk

It's always great to start with what you have. That lets you get to know what you want when you can purchase something.

+1 on pulks. Amazing ability to bring more weight and bulk than normal.

    That looks like my shop...

I recognize the red tool box on the right and the cabinets on the left. Stuff all over the place. The hammock stretched across the work area for 'testing'. The only thing that isn't sitting in my shop is the snow plow.
