new years weekend hike
me and a buddy of mine did a weekend backpacking trip at montgomery bell state park.it was his 1st time to sleep in hammock he had an eno double,we also ate an mre that he still had from desert storm 1991,he was an army doctor back then,plus he had a hip replacement back in the summer,he loves his new hip.plus is daughter is a ranger at this park.this park is special to me,i grew up near this park,

Hey Neo, What's up with this "hanging in the shelter" stuff??? Must be getting soft or something. Great pics and that looks like a really neat shelter. I'll have to take a look at that park. Any fishing there?
We did an overnighter on the AT Approach Trail to Springer and over to 3 Forks the weekend before Christmas. Froze some parts as it got to about 10 and wind chill was lower than that. Still had a great time. When is next Nashville gathering?

Neo, I don'twant to venture too far off topic, but you mention that your friend had a hip replacement. The pictures of him (I am assuming the pictures are your friend) show him with a "Running Journal" hat and a running gear shirt of some sort. Is he able to run with his replaced hip? What's his age? These questions come from a person to whom running was one of life's greatest pleasures until aches and pains in the moving parts shut it down. Thanks.
