I live in a rented student apartment so I am pretty sure drilling any sort of hole in the walls would be out of the question. I did see where a guy made a hammock stand for his bedroom in a video on YouTube. So I thought that I might try that but I'm not sure exactly how the measurements should be. The measurements from the two walls I would using are 8 1/2ft high and 8 1/4 long. I am making it that high so I can hang higher and I don't think it will be in the way as much if I do it that high. What do you guys think. Also here is the video: http://youtu.be/t7xrHI4qvG4

I am only 5 ft tall so I figure that short length between the walls wouldn't be too much of a problem. I JUST REALLY WANT TO HANG IN MY HAMMOCK SOON, I MISS IT!

I do like the turtledog stands but for the space I have I don't think it would be a very good fit.

Personally I would install some hooks into the wall studs. Patch them over with putty before moving out.

I made a stand and wedged it between two walls while on deployment. Instead of a tripod (turtledog stand) I used a bipod on each end. Padding the ridge pole with some foam, shirts, or whatever kept it from marring the wall. Just over 8' is really, really short though, even for your height. If you're a little creative you can put the stand slightly on the diagonal to get more room.

Check out this link from my setup:

I have been looking to make a similar stand, would you be able to post the lengths of the 2x4s used?
