I'm about to start on a couple of tarp projects. My first two turned out OK, but I wasn't real happy with how waterproof the ridgelines were even after seam sealing. I'm thinking about trying a grosgrain style rl, but I'm a little concerned it won't be any more waterproof than a felled seam. I've seen some posts saying these seams don't need sealing. Won't regular grosgrain hold water and end up leaking? If I did the grosgrain rl, could you seal it later? The other option I was looking at was using two seams on the sides and no ridgeline. This looks like a way to keep the water running down the side of the tarp where sealing would be minimal. The only thing I'm not sure about is how sturdy the apex of the tarp would be.

Ideas?

I've never had a leakage problem with flat felled seam in the silnylon. Did you stretch the tarp tight when you sealed it? That's important. I also seal the seam both inside and outside.

I sealed it when it as set up. I did not seal on the inside.
