What is the function / benefits / abilities / super powers
does adding members to your 'friends' list in user control panel
actually do ?
anything ?
any real point?
just a curious itch ive had for a long time and decided to scratch

"Friends" I think there was a TV show called that at one time... :lol::lol: other than that, who knows???
I haven't seen anything other than it is a nice jesture. I think the forum software has this option in it so they just have it turned on. I can imagine it is useful on other forums where everybody isn't your friend and you want to see who is online that you have spoken to in the past. I just don't see much use for it on here because we are all friendly except Angry Sparrow before he has had his coffee.

Well, if you invite someone to be your friend and they decline, it might just tell you that they are tired of all your private messages. Ya think? :unsure:

I've asked this on another forum.
Close as I can tell, it provides a quick, convenient way to access those members with whom you pm frequently. Also, access to galleries can be restricted to friends.
I guess this could be the same question you can ask about Facebook, Myspace and any other web site that also has a friends list.
