Llove the eno I have. I'm 265 pounds holds me well, But I want the hennesy expedition aerom or whatever it is, it's rated only at 250 lbs, the eno at 400 lbs. why such a big difference ? Surely the Hennessy will hold me. Thanks:scared:

Different materials have different weight ratings. I'm not sure whether the ratings listed on Hennesey hammocks are based on comfort or safety.

Weight ratings are part comfort and part liability. I'm sure it will hold you fine. Brandon at Warbonnet tested some fabric to 1000lbs but rates the hammocks they are made from in the 200's.

Thanks man. I'm confident it'll hold me.

How tall are you? I'm 5'11" 160 lbs., and I found the Expedition Asym Zip to be way too short for my liking. I've been hanging in 11' ft. hammocks (like Dutch or BIAS) for a few years and they really suit me fine.

I'm 275 (hope to be under 250 someday) and feel very safe in the HH Expedition. Any rating is the weight something can hold comfortably over and over again. It is nowhere near the max it can hold.

The suspension choice has a lot to do with the weight rating as well. The hammock body fabric is only part of the equation. IMO you might find the Expedition a little tight for your size. You might be more comfortable in one of the explorer models. I'm up around your weight and I wouldn't want to go any smaller than the Explorer.

My "little" brother is somewhere north of 275 (I think closer to 325 but he just smiles) and is 6'3". He has spent many nights in my Expedition but it is really too short for him. He does however fit nicely in my Explorer Deluxe but if you were to ask him, he will take my 11' Dutch Aragon every time it's not bug season. In fact, I am pretty sure he has it right now and a switch to one of the HH will take place soon because of the summer influx of bugs.

Well I suspect it will hold me, but after contacting hennesy they had some other recommendations for me,like a deluxe model, I'd probably be more comfy in, I'm only 5'10'' but very large wide shoulders, yes the eno is comfy a single nest, but a deluxe may be even more so,I asked hennesy if they still throw in snake skins, waiting for that reply, I'll read it again but thought the site was a little ambivalent about if they do or don't throw in a set of snake skins still.

Oh ok well dang, if he is that big, then we'll I still may consider the expedition (non deluxe) to save a buck, but with silver surfr's comment, maybe I do wanna go for the utmost comfort, he and I r about same height

I have the deluxe and the money was worth it. Also, I recommend the zip model as well if you are going to use a pad for insulation

You won't be saving money on either Eno or HH vs a Dutchware or BIAS hammock. Both are already overpriced, run short and narrow. The are heavy from a hiking standpoint as well. Also. Once you replace the suspensions on the Eno or HH, you will have more cash invested on the front end and less quality and comfort at the other.

Sure you still need a Bug Net and Insulation. But non-attached nets, like insulation, can be changed with conditions, or left home entirely when not needed. You will have a better crafted and much more comfortable rig, and you won't need another when the seasons change.

I don't personally care for attached bug nets especially on the cheaper imports. Lots of threads on how to repair tears, zipper, and stitching around, because they are problematic. Higher end Cottage vended offering with integrated netting and over covers are much better designed and crafted. On some Dream Hammocks, you can have an integrated style bug net, that can be removed or rolled back when not needed, providing the best of both worlds.

Eno's and HH fill their niche, low initial investment, instant gratification. The first part of that doesn't wash, and if you can wait sometimes less than a week with some of our more motivated vendors, the second is on extremely shaky ground.

In addition using HF Cottage Vendors allow you to keep your dollars in the US, supporting our own craftsmen and their small businesses. Many of them are active members on this site and accessible with a simple post or PM.

+1 on this from Rev. I am 6' 2" 215 and the Explorer is a better fit. I'm a HH guy but for the price you may be better served going with a Dutch hammock. :shades:

Why not buy the Explorer, I think it is a significant improvement, the fabric is nicer, it is longer, on mine the construction is a tad better IMHO.

My daughter's companion is a tall and plump 6 ft. 4or 6ins, over 300 lbs, he fits the Survivor well. I think the Explorer is nicer, however if I were a tall and sizeable person I would not want to worry about a failure.
