Well Mr. Prez ... thanks a million for getting my KAQ (modified design) ready, stiched and shipped. I arrived in Jamestown, NC three days after I placed the order. But I got it today and went over it ... nicely done. Really well made and dang ... including the stuff sack ... only 27 oz.

Can't thank you enough for getting right on it. I can't wait to give it a test run!

You'll love your KAQ!

I've got a rare Patrick McKenna KAQ. You've got a collector, too: a MrPrez KAQ!

That was to be a new model that I was going to announce soon. I'll let the new owner decide if he wants to continue with that particular product. There are only 2 in existence, I have and use the other one!

So, Hawk-eye's modified design is one of two prototypes?

Looking forward to checking it out!

His was to be the first commercial one, I had planned to announce the new model on the first. Hopefully, it will still become an addition to the stable. It is a hybrid of the Potomac and New River designed for the zipper modded HH. I had planned to call it the ZP KAQ in honor of the "Zipper Queen"!

Geez! I have a Heresy with the 2Q/ZQ #2 bugnet Mod... I'll have to inspect Hawk-eye's setup and see if I need one of those!

Cool. My two HH's are on their way to ZQ for #2 mods. I sure hope this new design remains available.

I assume you're no longer taking orders Mrprez?

Mr Prez:
In all of talkings over the last few days I forgot to thank you publically for a great and wonderful product. The New River that I have I finally got to test out this weekend and man was it nice. I got everything set-up and made adjustments here and there making sure that I had it sealed up good and tight. There were temps predicted to be in the uppper 40's. I did here that the temp got to 48 degrees and I was comfortable with only a small lightweight fleece blanket, short sleeve t-shirt, sweat pant short and some cotton socks. My feet did get cold during the night so I threw my spare long sleeve T under them and problem solved. I would not have needed the T under my feet, except I was head high and slid down during the night. Still gotta get that set-up right!!!! Anyways, there I go rambling.........Wonderful product and I hope the new owner is able to make the quality of product that you were making.

Imagine a Potomac without the complicated suspension system. No side channels just the 2 side tieouts and drawcord channels on the ends. Still has the shape for the asym but much simpler suspension system. You can't use the bottom entry with this though.

It'll probably be the weekend before I can set it up and get some pictures other than in the dark. This whole working for a living gets in the way of fun stuff some times! ;)

Had an interesting moment this morning before heading to work. Laid out some Ripstop to trim before heading to the office ... both the dogs walk in and lay down on the fabric like that's what I intended it for!

Got a call from my daughter whose off work today ... told me they pushed open the door to my home office and found my KAQ folded up by my desk and decided this was their new lounging area!

So the KAQ is tested and approved by Axl and Spencer ... a big 8 paws up!

Having no experience with the previous Potomac ... what I can say about the version I got ... IT'S GREAT! Clean simple and stays right in place .. and moves as needed. Of course the slit is not useable ... or difficult to use in this set up but with the 2QZQ mod it's perfect.

John just emailed me on the rigging question and while I used a fixed connection ... rigging with the prussik makes more functional sense to me. Thanks John.

And a big thanks again for the speed of making and shipping my quilt. Nothing about the quality of work in this looks like a rush job!

I had to mow the yard last night and only got a brief amount of time in the dark to play with it. But even under those conditions it was very easy to rig and play around with. Even the wife came out and gave it a big thumbs up when she tried it out. About had to run her out of it so I could finish up my playing around with fit and adjustments!
