If you have any questions about how the Free Hammock Gear area works please post them in this string.

Q) Why do I need 50 posts to be able to post in this area?
A) Because we all want to get to know you and know that you are going to be around before you start claiming or posting items.

Q) Why do I have to close my post when someone supplies my item?
A) This is a self moderated area. If you don't close your thread, it won't get closed and others will also try to supply you the same item over and over again.

Q) What do is meant by a self moderated area?
A) MODS nor ADMINS will police threads nor become involved in actions unless there is a TOS (https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/content.php/118-Terms-of-Service-for-HammockForums-net) violation occurring.

Q) XX User responded and said they were sending me the item I asked for but it's been a month and I still don't have it. What should I do?
A) You will need to contact the User who said they would supply the item to determine where your item is. This is a self moderating area so MODS/ADMINS do not become involved in any give away.

Q) Someone just asked me to send them money to pay for shipping of my item, should I do this?
A) No as this is a free area. Nothing here is for sale. Everyone is offering items/services for free and shipping should be included. Should you decided to go outside of these guidelines then that is completely on you!

Q) How do I post an item?
A) Open a new thread for each item. That way you can close it when you are done.

I've read the rules and have a question.
Is there a place to post items that are free-for-pick-up at OP's location/home?

I want to give some items away but they can not be shipped due to weight and size. I might as well just give them to the scrap metal place down the road if peeps can't have the opportunity to pick them up.

Thanks in advance,
Thom / Accrete

If it is not free hammock gear related there is no place here. Scrap metal, old lawn mowers, etc belongs on craigslist not in the HF.

Well I didn't feel it was appropriate to state exactly what I was trying to find a happy home for.
I have two pair of my DIY hammock stands (https://hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php/111928-Accrete-s-Single-Double-Hammock-portable-stand) to give away free to anyone who wishes to pick them up. They are 100% functional and in great shape. I just don't need them anymore... but I certainly can't justify shipping them to anyone either.

It's not scrap metal, but they are made of metal...

So if there is an appropriate "For Free" area I can post without being strapped to "shipping" can you point me to the right place? I'm just trying to comply with how I was interpreting the rules, yet wanting to pay-it-forward to anyone who may be blessed with something functional and free.

Hi Thom, That sure sounds like hammock gear to me and I see no reason you can't state pickup only, no exceptions please don't ask.
I'd post it here: https://hammockforums.net/forum/forumdisplay.php/149-Free-Hammock-Gear

Many thanks!
I posted them with success (https://hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php/123847-DIY-Hammock-stand(s)-free-for-pickup-in-Astoria-Oregon?p=1612122#post1612122). Hopefully they will find a new-happy-home.
