The Free Hammock Gear forum with two sub forums is now open. Please feel free to post and start business in it. Please do take a minute to read the Rules and Q&A section before posting.
Vendors are more than welcome to join in the fun.

This is a great idea, i have often contacted members thru pm and asked if they were interested in such things and this will make it alot easier.

You are welcome...it has been a joint effort from all the MODS/Admins.
I've read the TOS and the Q&A. I don't get it. Is this better than PIF for some reason. Seems like a mistitled "gimme" subthread and another one like PIF, but without the incentive to actually pay it forward. Does this fix something for vendors? Is this what Hammock forums is all about? I'm sure someone can enlighten me.
I just re-up'd for two years - love the advice and have benefited and hopefully benefited others in the for sale and PIF sections. I read the forums daily for areas of my interest, but missed completely the background that drove this change.

What drove this change was:
1) PIF was completely dead. Pretty much very, very limited activity in the past 90 days.
2) PIF could not continue in the format it was as it had to be a closed group and too many people were not interested once it was a closed group. The PIF group had to become a closed group due to hacking that was taking place on the SS.
3) More than a few people asked how to give stuff away without joining PIF. Free area is the answer to their question.
4) PIF takes way too many cycles to manage since folks seem to have issues with refreshing their items, updating the SS, and applying for the access. Free is the answer to this since moderation of the area is limited to TOS items only and people are free to open and close their own threads in the area.
The current Free format allows for people to PIF if they choose or not. It is totally up to the membership to determine how they use the area. It has nothing to do with the HF Vendors but they are welcome to participate if they choose to, or not...totally up to them.
