I recently finished this Top Quilt my wife named the Black Widow.
Made with the following materials bought from RSBTR:
1. Racing Red 1 oz Taffeta
2. Black Membrane 10 Taffeta
3. 1.5" pre cut no seeum baffles
4. 850 FP Hyper Dry Goose down.
The quilt is made with a 9.5" Karo step with a 5.5" long baffle. It is 76" x 55".

Nice job...sharp looking color combo! To what temperature do you expect it to be rated?

I thought my 5x7 karo step quilt was a lot of work but 6x8!? Nice job!

It lofts to 2.5" at the center of the squares. I'm not really sure how low it will get me too. I'm hoping for mid to low 30's. This will be my late spring - early fall quilt.

2.5" loft should be rated to 20*F. Now, get outside and use it!! :-)

It took me around 12 hours to complete it. I've always stuffed the down in by hand, not this time I couldn't get my big mitts through the baffles. I bought a new shop vac to do the job.
Thanks ksbcrocks.

I'll be taking it out soon.

I was debating this color scheme vs brick red/black argon, but after seeing this, I am going to go with this color combination. How is the material as far as softness and handling when sewing?

I prefer working with this material over ripstop. Sewing is about the same but Taffeta doesn't get caught on dry hands and wooden clothes pins like ripstop. What I really prefer is how it feels against your skin, taffeta is very soft.

Thanks for all the compliments.

Well done! That's a solid top quilt. I agree that will probably get you in the 20's with good base layers.

I was hoping to get into the low 30's, high 20's even better.
