I just purchased a new Katahdin with 2oz overfill thanks to the great sale. I ordered a sewn in footbox, but I'm wondering if the quilt can still function as an underquilt if the footbox is sewn in?

Should I have just left the footbox untouched?

Thanks,
F

You would need to take it out for a UQ ..... I did to mine. All you need is a seam ripper and a cup of tea. Not hard at all. May have to add a drawcord to the foot end.... I did.

or add 18" of velcro/omnitape to recreate the box at need.

JRB Katahdin quilts come with full side omni tape...So, both the formation of foot boxes of any length up to full side closure is readily done...

Sewing in the foot box cuts the flexibilty of use IMHO.
