After nine weeks finally received my ghost pepper. It is even better than I could've hoped for. The craftsmanship and materials are fantastic and George was great to work with. Charcoal gray 90 outer brick red 67 inner ( which is somewhere between a burnt orange and a true red..quite beautiful).

900 fill lofty goodness
80" long
Wide
+2 overfill
10 taper
Hotbox foot

Couldn't be happier!

I had planned on getting out for an overnight this weekend but a heat wave had overnight lows in the 40s ! Still made it out for a great day hike but testing the limits of this quilt will require much colder weather!

Yea, last nights low was 49°. Seven days ago the low was 11.8°. What a difference a week makes. :)

So I got out for a quick overnight loop solo this weekend. It was my first experience with an actual top quilt "versus sleeping bag.... sold! I know I was nowhere near the temperature rating but man was this bag toasty. The insulated foot box was worth every penny. I have perpetually cold feet and they were super comfortable all night long. This is the only one of George's quilts I currently have in my possession but I have six more on order! Can't wait for my matching Carolina reapers to get here. Pics enjoy:

Why does Loco Libre not have their own sub-forum here yet?!?! Clearly they are more than deserving!

Oh, should probably add that I slept in a silkweight 'teryx baselayer, with some lighthiker thor-lo socks. On my head I experimented with my black rock gear down beanie and a Powerstretch buff vs my luke's ultralight crazy warm down hood. Both worked well at this temperature.

Hmm, my girlfriend's feet are always cold. I'm afraid it may become a deal breaker for her. I will have to take a serious look at the Ghost Pepper for her.

I will have to take a serious look at the Ghost Pepper for her.I have constant cold feet and the Ghost Pepper keeps my feet very warm. I also got the option to have a pocket sew in that holds a hot hands in the footbox but I do not see that option listed any longer. I've only used the hot hands once when testing it in 12°. I've not needed it as the footbox is so warm. I've never had cold feet in my LocoLibre quilts.

GEORGE,

Even though it is not on the website, can it be ordered? Why was it removed?

As others have said the footbox is plenty warm, and nothing stops one from tossing a hand warmer in sans pocket. Truth be told it wasn't a cost effective option from a manufacturing standpoint.

Understood. Thanks for the reply. Was curious since I saw it was an option in the past.

I've only used it once and it wasn't necessary. I have extremely cold feet and my feet have never been cold in my LocoLibre top quilts and for that I'm grateful. If I had it to do again I wouldn't get it only because I do not use the option.

I'm new to the top quilt arena, but that fine looking quilt with a 10" taper, does that constitute a full or half taper?

Also nice looking shots, I love that accurate temp thing....getting...
