Hello HF friends,

In 2015 I went to NC for the John rock hang and fell in love with the views of the mountains, so....

All you have to do is post a suggested group hang coming up in 2017 or 2018 that has beautiful mountain views. Bonus points if you provide a picture

These suggestions will help me find another awesome hang with beautiful views, for a future hang.

Your post # will be put into a bowl and I'll announce the winner on 03.11.17

What you get in return is....

Group hike on the AT and hang at Wolf Laurel Ridge- about 3-4 miles in from Neel Gap or Tesnatee Gap.
It would have to be a relatively small hang, but room for several hammocks there. Excellent views on a clear day.

I go to Red River Gorge in Kentucky at least 3 times a year. It is absolutely gorgeous! It's like the rockies but less elevation, and more cliffs!

The best part is you can camp off trail!

I do not know how to make the image address into a photo, but the location is impressive, and the hiking/camping opportunities abound...

The blue hole in Arkansas. Swimming and cliff diving. Probably be great for a group hang. https://scontent-dft4-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t31.0-8/12109987_1190704720946610_1267877268025882187_o.jp g?oh=a5c901d8e17b470e1cde60cf46a4b96e&oe=59739A0Dhttps://scontent-dft4-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/12096638_1190704644279951_2114407741951970196_n.jp g?oh=b962754ff89dafcb7d9504ba509e1fe7&oe=593B9D90

Well you can't beat the fun at Hangcon, while we don't have geographical mountains here in FL...there is a mountain of food each day

While I haven't been there personally, I'd have to recommend the Linville Gorge. I know there is usually a hang there every year. If you want to have a good look at the place Shug here on the forums has been there many times and made a whole Playlist of his trips there.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLahaAdtfX9ZKg-yWP1jm-lIoauJ4p6uNt

That is a link to his playlist if you want to check it out. I personally want to try to hit the Gorge myself someday, maybe in the Winter time when it is nice and cool, or even late fall or Early spring to see all the trees in their autumn colors or beginning to blossom after winter.

BTW, I am not doing this to win the prize, but to give a suggestion since you wanted a place to hang with lots of great mountain views.

+1 on Linville Gorge.

I will also recommend the Grayson Highlands hang in mid-Jan. A hike to the AT can give you some great views, and a plus if the peaks are snow covered. Unfortunately, no pics from me since my schedule hasn't allowed me to make the hang yet.

The Alabama Hangs in the Sipsey Wilderness have wonderful waterfall views. And beautiful rocks, trees, plants and history.

I don't know how to post pictures- but can I piggyback on Trailslug's trip report from last week? His vids captured it beautifully.

Charlotte

PS- there's always a mountain of fun to be had, too!

Thanks Moonbear for this generous offer. A little fate may have factored into me winning this as I woke up Saturday morning at the Yates Place spring forward hang with my tarp sagging about 6-8" lower than when I pitched it. Somehow my connection from tarp to ridgeline slipped in the night. I'm looking forward to using the CRL on my next hang.
