Hello all. I

I am an old Eagle Scout that has gotten far away from the outdoors. But with 3 kids (10,7,&6 yrs. old) who have really been pestering me to camp, I've got to figure out how to camp comfortably. Even as a kid I could never sleep well on the ground. That's why I got really excited when I discovered hammock camping! So excited, in fact, I just "hit the button" and became a donating member.

With the next paycheck I'm buying my hammock and I've already connected with Canibal. He's gonna help me get ready for hanging in the Colorado high country.

Thanks in advance for all the help and inspiration.

Welcome to HF! I'm a flatlander for the most part. Still, my first night ever hanging was a bit above 10,000 feet up the road a ways from you in WY! I'll never forget that trip.

A hearty Hammock Forum howdy 7popa7! A lot of friendly, helpful people here. Hope you find hammock happiness hanging your own hang. Cannibal has helped me out plenty of times and I am grateful.

Today's post is brought to you by the letter “H”. “H” is for hammock as well as for happiness. ;)

I have seen a couple of hangers car camping, but only one other hammock in the backcountry.

What hammock did you decide on to start out with?

I'm going to hold off until I meet up with Canibal and test some of his gear. I don't want to rush into it and waste any $$. But I'm leaning toward a Warbonnet BB. The darn thing has wings! That's cool
