Ever thought of adding a "Free stuff" forum Under marketplace? Sometimes I have DIY stuff and odds and ends to give away. I bet others do too.

There have been a number of threads in the 4sale section where items have been given away to the first responders, exactly as you mention. I think that's probably the best place for it still.
The moderators' rule of thumb with regards to adding new subforums has been to ask the question 'Are there enough threads to fill a subforum?'.
If there are enough give-away threads started, perhaps we can add a place for them....
