There will be another German group hang near Frankfurt (https://goo.gl/maps/cbpfTYBLzay) and hangers from other countries are welcome to join. The hang will start on Saturday, December 30th 2017 and finish on Monday, January 1st 2018. There will be a small fee that depends on how many people are participating. The fee will cover the cost for the site, fire wood, toilet paper, trash bags etc.

The site is located in a beautiful wooded area. There are two toilets with running water, a big lean-to with tables and benches in case it rains or snows, a roofed fire-place and plenty of trees for hanging. There will be a couple of communal meals and snacks, but you will need to bring your own food for the rest of the time. There is a supermarket in the neighboring village in case you prefer to buy locally. Shops are closed on Sunday and holidays in Germany, though. Also, opening times of shops in small villages are not as generous as those in the big cities.

There will be no fireworks to celebrate the New Year, but there will be fire :) Here are some pictures of previous group hangs at the same site:

Since most people are spending New Year's Eve with their families, it will likely be a small turnout. Perfect for those who are looking for some quiet time and enjoy winter hanging. Don't count on snow and temperatures below freezing, though. There could be snow, but at the last "winter" hang I attended, temperatures were around 65°F :)

If you want to participate and understand German, please follow instructions here (http://www.haengemattenforum.de/forum/outdoor/treffen-und-veranstaltungen/40126-jahresendcamp). If you don't understand German, you can PM me, and I'll forward you to the organizer.

Thanks, but New Year's Eve is traditionally family time in my family - so I will sit out this hang. I hope I can make it to the next one.
