Well I am finally getting ready to hit the trail. I am going on the AT southbound. Getting on the bus Wednessday afternoon to Maine. I have a lot to do and don't know how much I will be checking in before I leave.

Thanks to all for the help with everything. See everyone on the trail.

Here is a link to my TJ. The direct link doesn't link up yet.

Take your time and have a ball. I will try and catch you in Maine but can not make any promises. It would have to be on a weekend and trying to time it when you will hit Andover would be hard.

We look forward to reading your journals and hearing some good stories.

I have the money, I just wish I had the time. I have to prepare to start my PhD, which means I have to wrap up a bunch of things and then would have to be done by late august. That would be pretty fast. Possible, but probably not for me. Anyway, have a great time.

I will be following your trip with great interest. I am hoping to attempt a SOBO thru in '09 when I get out of UC.

Bon voyage and in the immortal words of my dear old Mother, "For God's sake be careful!" Can't wait to get some vicarious kicks from reading your journal.

Have fun, and remember: when deciding which trouble to get into, pick the one you've never tried before. Not really original, but sincere.

When you feel all alone out there in the wilderness, just remember that we are all there with you; in spirit at least.

Good luck and happy trails my friend!

Thanks for the kind words and the good lucks.

I have a lot to do between now and then, but it will all work itself out. Unfortunately I have to finish up school when I get back. But oh well, I'll be hiking.

Lots of folks are interested in your hike and your journal, HE. But remember - your hike comes first...don't let journaling become a chore and interfere with the reason you're out there in the first place. We can always hear the stories when you get back...but this hike is for YOU! Make the most of it...wish I could be there.

That said, I hope you do keep a good journal for us to read!

Thanks for the advice. I wanted to do at least a journal for me. I think they are fun to read later. I also enjoyed reading other people's TJ and wanted to spare my trip with my family and friends.

I will have to say that I am going to keep it PG since I have young nieces and nephews that will be reading it. Other than that I am going to try not to filter anything out. Yet another reason to put a disclaimer on my first entry.
