Hello one and all,

I have a bunch of stuff laying around that I don't use, and I'm trying to make room for stuff i do use =)

I have a Garmin Montana 600 that I haven't used in over a year, in the box with (I think) all the peripherals. It did a great job for me when I was using it, but these days I use Gaia GPS on my phone and carry an InReach for emergencies and comms, so it really is superfluous.

FYI it's also sort of heavy, but i don't have any specs.

But if you don't like taking your phone or just want a very durable and reliable GPS to take out on your adventures, then this unit is for you.

At any rate, Google it, and if you're interested or know someone who you could "pay it forward" to, comment below "I'll take it" and this Friday I will pick someone randomly from the comments.

Thank you for the generosity. I have one of the first ones to come out a Magellan 2000xl and it's almost 1 Lb, slow, and eats 4 AA's fast.

I will take it

but not for me, it would be for my friend who is slowly getting into the community. Most of his gear is my old gear and a GPS is something I do not have but know he has wanted one.I like maps, he's tech and it would be fun to use both

I'll Take it

I have a scout troop that could use it for a lot of GPS based activities and even share it with other local troops.

I'll take it but like a few others, not for me, for a young dad I have started camping and canoeing with who is on a really tight budget.

Giving back and doing good for others is something that everyone should strive for, so thank you for leading by example. Very cool of you to do this for our HF community.

So, with that, I "won't" take it, since I don't need it (use paper maps, Gaia and a Garmin Foretrex...when those don't work I just wander aimlessly around the woods). Good luck to everyone who got in on this!

Thanks MD, and I agree. I have a few things I want to spread out over a few social platforms I frequent but this is probably the "biggest" one I have to give away, and I wanted to offer it here because hammock Forums is the forum that really got me started in my quest to get outdoors. I am surprised at the level of interest lol, i thought just about everyone was using their phones now =)

Alright folks, thanks everyone for your interest. I really didn't think there would be this much!

I ran the drawing using Google's random number generator after counting the "I'll take it" entries, and after the results were in, Eidson was the lucky winner.

Eidson, shoot me a PM with your address at some point over the weekend, and I will mail you your new GPS unit.

To everyone else, I have some other stuff that I will be giving away across some of the other social media platforms I participate in, the links are in my signature. I never require you "join" or "follow " or any of that, but if you're not following you might miss out lol. But seriously I only want people to subscribe to any of my content if they like it. So check it out and if you like it let's talk about it!

This was beyond generous of you and I can't thank you enough. This was very well timed, as our floating/camping group;s decade old Garmin bit the dust last fall. This will certainly be put to good use and you'll have the gratitude of far more people than just myself.
I will be sure to repay and pass on my good fortune here on the forums soon.

Thank you again sir!
