Section hiking the AT in the Whites in July and need a quick place to stay on the way up there around Springfield VT. We would be arriving late in the day and leaving first thing in the morning just looking for a few trees to hang a hammock preferably free dispersed site near a road. No facilities are needed. If nothing like that can be had are any of the pay campgrounds in the area hammock friendly? Any tips or help is appreciated.
Thanks

One State Campground nearby is Acutney, They advertise heavily wooded sites so it looks promising. You can call to ask about hanging. https://vtstateparks.com/ascutney.html

I've been to Vermont for a week for the the last 35 years, but I've only stayed in one actual campground. Gifford Woods near Killington, and it's actually really nice. Vermont state parks are fantastically maintained. Sites 1 and 2 are great for hanging, but there are others. It's quite a bit north of where you're headed, though.
