Finally.:D
The design is finished and we are now ready to start taking payments for the Hammock Forums Custom Buff.
First off I want to thank pgibson for doing all the heavy lifting with this group buy, cavscout for coming up with the winning design, Cannibal for his help in getting the design polished and it's proper format, and everyone else for being so patient through this sometimes bumpy process.
The Group Buy for the Hammock Forum Buff is now closed. We are no longer accepting orders or taking payments.
The order has been submitted to Buff on 03-09-10. We were told that the manufacturing process will take estimated 5-6 weeks. The Buffs will then be shipped to Paul and then Paul will ship each order. The shipping and process of orders will probably take another couple of weeks. Right now we are looking at an ETA of approx. 8 weeks from the date the order was placed with Buff.
Updates will be given in this thread.
Big thanks to all of those who ordered.

What is the actual size of this "buff"? The add says "microfiber", but that comes in tissue-paper-thickness up to 1/?" thick (and that's a very wide spec!)
Sorry if I'm being "thick"... just want to know more!

When I go to ship them out I am just going to print out the labels in bulk and send them out, you will get an email through paypal that the order shipped. And the mail man/woman will not know your HF name any way :D

The design is starting to grow on me. I'm not sure whether I'll be able to give up wearing my trusty OR Seattle Sombrero though. It is my never hit the trail without it piece of gear.

Not adding your user name shouldn't be a problem as pgibson said in an earlier post.

I never really paid attention to the different ways the Survivor people wore them (I guess I just though they were big bandanas at the time). Then I stumbled across them in a thread here and looked up what exactly they were. Well, I'm just a sucker for multi-use clothing -- I already have a regular buff, a polar buff, a EVO 2 Visor buff (turned out to be just a cap -- I thought I was getting one of the other ones which could be used all the ways a regular buff could except having the sunshade benefit), and a dog buff for my cocker spaniel puppy (she still has a bit of growing to do for it to fit) :D
O duh, Tks to Pgibson also for taking his time to ship these out.
Regarding using buffs as tube tops - AFAIK the tube tops are not the standard buffs. FYI for anyone planning on that particular use.
I believe that the Buff site mentions this somewhere. It's been a while since I have been there.

Yeah, I'm totally enamored with them. We had to get Genuine Draft one at REI before she left for her AT hike. We had hoped to send her off with a HF one of course, but didn't work out in time. Still, they are mighty nice pieces of gear. I must have spent about 2 hours just playing with the different wear options. Can't wait for the HF Buffs! :cool:

Well sorry for all the wait folks but Buff finally got the order done a couple days ago but the volcano grounded FedEx in Paris so I have been watching the tracking numbers for the past few days and waiting to see when they move. Well they hit the Memphis sort facility last night and are on the way across the country. They are expected to get here on Monday. So we will be putting together boxes and getting ready to ship them out from here as soon as the Buffs arrive.
As part of the prep in an attempt to get them shipped as quickly as possible I am going to start (maybe as soon as today or tomorrow) printing shipping labels. When we print the label you will get an email that your order is shipped and on the way. It is not and will not leave until the buff is in the box on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. We are going to work hard to get them all packed up and shipped as quickly as physically possible but please understand that there are over 200 boxes to fill and tape, and put labels on so it will take a bit of time to sort everyone's out and get them where they need to be.
So the Final numbers!
There were 326 Buffs ordered by HF members, I got a couple for myself and Buff surprised us with a bit of info that they over produce in case they have some that are flawed that they can not ship. So there will be some for the store that should be to HeadChange4U by the first of next week and he will have them available in the store shortly after.
Again, so it is clear and I am not getting hundreds of PM's and emails---We are printing the shipping labels before the buffs arrive to speed up the turnaround time here once they do get here. This will generate an automatic email from PayPal telling you that your order has shipped, in fact they will ship within a couple days of that email and you will be provided with a link to track the order (US only.) I will attempt to send this info along in the email as well.
Thanks everyone for you patience and we will have Buffs in everyone's hands in the next week or so.

Flat rate boxes from the USPS are free--envelopes are not :) trying to make it as simple as possible. Least that is the hope :mellow:

Yep and the same price I belive as the Flat rate boxes that I ordered up from them --those took 3 weeks to get delivered from the USPS site. Already have some of the boxes taped together. The local office did not want to give me more than about 50 boxes at a time. But we got them going. :D

Well the Post office lady just nearly had a stroke when I told her I had 180 small flat rate boxes I was going to start bringing in loads of starting Monday. She though I was going to be making her put postage on all of them. :lol:

I really am just handling some of the logistics, There are others that have done so much to make this happen, the mods of course, ATTroll, Cannibal, His freind for putting the file together, everyone that put in designs and input. I am just shipping and making the phone calls way more credit goes to all the others involved.
just tell them to spill mine at the Memphis hub and I will run over and get it. Not a problem

You all should start receiving them in the next 2-3 days for the US ones and not not to much longer for the international orders. I dropped off all of the boxes at the PO today so they are all in route.

All the thanks for getting these all ready so quick goes to my wife Princess (http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/member.php?u=6036). Without her it would have taken me weeks to have gone through and printed all the labels. She printed each and every one, taped nearly all the boxes together, sorted out how many each of you ordered, kept track of the $$$ for 2 months, and a hundred other details that I don't even know about. So my Buff is off to her for everything. And a thanks goes to the Post Office folks that gave me one heck of a look today after bringing in 2- 30 gallon rubber maid totes, 1- 15 gallon, and a large cardboard box full of packages for them to check into the tracking system--they may still not be all entered into the system-- but they were going to work on them even though they have no idea what a Buff is--even after I showed them. :lol:
Remember you must take a picture with your buff or you didn't get one. :scared::lol:

got mine today. Wish I had bought at least 3. At first you open the package and feel it you think it feels hard and crinkly and not soft and stretchy like you expect. Then you realize there is paper in it. It is real nice. The only thing I would say is the packaging was complete overkill with a box for one buff when an envelope would do. Love the buff.

I'm lazy and usually just go with the "Sahariane". My other favorite is the "Pirate", but it might take a couple of attempts (the crossed arms inversion thing takes some getting used to).
I was also a bit worried when I pulled my HF Buffs out of the box and felt how hard and crinkly they were. I was wondering if they were heavily starched or something until I discovered the paper. :)
And I need to add my thanks to everyone involved in pulling this off, job well done!

I must say that the Buffs are a WHOLE LOT better looking than any of the designs I saw on the forums.
Very muted colors. Very beautiful design.
The designer(s?) did an excellent job that was complimented by the efforts of those who did the necessary work that nobody else really knows about. I don't know all the names, but if you had anything to do with getting the Buffs delivered, GREAT JOB!!

My 3 kids and I are really enjoying our HF Buffs. I've shown them the instructional videos multiple times to show them how versatile it is, and they've pretty much mastered all the ways shown. :)

Actually, I discovered while trying the mask that the buff may be thin enough for me to sleep with it over my mouth. I usually feel like I'm suffocating if there's something over my mouth, but I'm gonna try this instead of adding a nearly-patented Shug's breath bib to my TQ.

Funny .... I been doing the balaclava over the mouth this year and it works .... took me a bit to get used to but I did.

Got the buffs today! Got home from work and the family had already torn into the box and were walking around with their buffs on. They looked great.
Jeff, I wear mine over my mouth and nose when mountain biking in cold weather so unless you are really sensitive to having something over your face it should work well.
One thing I notice, these are a bit thicker than one I bought at REI a few years ago. They also only stretch in the lateral direction. The REI one stretches in both lat and long directions. Not a big deal, just an observation.

Shug/Cav - I can't sleep with a balaclava over my mouth. The Serius Neofleece facemask has little holes over the mouth and the nostrils are open, so it's pretty comfortable...this might be more comfortable, though...and multiuse!
Kattelyn and I got our buffs today! We've used buffs before...I did the balaclava one particularly cold night although the one I used for that was a polar buff so I had the fleece around my neck.
Can't wait to get out with the new additions. Thanks to everyone who put this together!

So I'm really bummed.. my tracking number for the package says it was delivered yesterday but I never got it. I live it a condo complex (multiple boxes for mail in one place) and I suspect they put it in someone else's box. I called the PO and they seem a bit at a loss as to what to do. The lady I talked to said she would try to contact the carrier and see if she remembers anything but if it's not still in the boxes then I'll have to hope that the person who got it in their box actually checks the address before opening it. :(
Let me know what they find out Poker88, I will keep an eye out here just in case they send it back or anything but please let me know what the PO comes up with.
