It looks just like the camo version and probably performs the same, just bigger.

That's the same tarp that Neo has talked about for so long, only it's white instead of camo. The camo version of Neo's tarp comes in a 9x9 and 12x12 version. I assume the white somes in both sizes also.

It's great tarp for the price. Some people say it's a little heavy, but I have never given a second thought about the weight. I like the camo version better than the white just because of aesthetics.

Does anyone have a link to the camo version?

I just bought the 9x9 camo version off WB. It weighed 21 ounces on my postal scale

Mine weighed in at 21.8 ounces plus 0.9 ounces for the storage bag.

Troll Its that same tarp as The Neo SG I have. I think Neo switched from the 9x9 to the 12x12. I like mine but I would like a little more cover.

I would have switch to this tarp so I could have the extra foot all the way around, but then I noticed the weight of the tarp. I will stick with my JRB tarp.

I just ordered the 9 foot camo tarp yesterday. To cut down freight %, I also ordered a lightweight sleeping bag. (How's that for logic??)

I almost bought the white 12 foot. Now I'm glad I didn't. because---

I bought a 160 inch/ side catenary cut nysil tarp that I found on Craigs list for $20. It's huge. too big for one hammock. The diagonal is way over 15 feet . It seems to me that the 12 footer would also be too big for one hammock. I was thinking of cutting it but decided against it.

That's big enough to have Cirque du Soleil perform in your hammock! Plenty big enough for A-frame, too. Might limit your site selection a bit that big, though. Still...you should have NO worries about getting wet! And $20 is a steal.

I will take that tarp off your hands is it's to big for you. :D

If the tarp is that big you'll probably have to get a step ladder to tie your hammock high enough to not drag the ground.:D

You should lend that thing out for hurricane relief...use it to cover houses that had their roofs ripped off :D

I'v been thinking about getting some of that 72 inch sil from Oware and making a 6x10 with no seam. Maybe a cat cut around perimeter. Should come in around 9 oz. That would be about the same size as the big Hennessy fly.

I don't know the exact specs on the HH hex, but I saw a couple at Hot Springs and they looked quite a bit wider than 6'.

I think I'm gonna try and finish the sewing on my tarp tonight. Hopefully I'll have pix tomorrow! :D

do 9X9's allow enough room to close the ends to prevent wind and such? I'm considering getting the 12x12 mentioned ( once I get on the waiting list which is out to February :scared: ) just so i can close the doors if need be.

hopefully someone responds to this because I just realized this post was from Oct of '06, not this year. Suppose I should pay more attention next time huh?

A 3 year old thread?

The GG tarps are diamond shaped...there aren't any 'doors' to close. When hung, there isn't enough material on the ends to create a windbreak. They do offer plenty of coverage for rain, though.

I think you would have to add a center tie out to hang it rectangularly

drewboy

The version of that tarp that comes with poles does have a center tie out that can be used for rectangular hanging.

The GG 12X12 that Drewboy is talking about will work in the configuration you are looking for. I have one and used it this last weekend in winds that were gusting to 10 mph and it worked great. Unfortunately they are out of stock!!!!!!!

I didn't realize there were two versions of the GG tarps. Interesting.

I have both of the tarps, I will bring them this weekend and let you look at them. I will be using the one that is out of stock at the moment.
