Per George in another thread...

Sorry nquinn, I have taken a long look at the market and it's downward spiral and decided instead of running sales, to just put our best price forward up front. I believe we are fair in our pricing, and by no means are we getting rich. Honestly I'd rather do less at a consistent price, than make my customers wait for sales and have spikes in wait times. Those who believe our products are worth a little extra will buy from us, and those who shop price will do just that. I just think it's a fairer way of treating my customers. I do appreciate you considering us though

I'm hoping he'll reconsider/make an exception for Black Friday.

Yeah, I bought an underquilt from them a while back on a Black Friday sale and would really like to pick up a matching top quilt.

I ordered a TQ maybe two years ago on the NOT BLACK FRIDAY SALE, I was one of the first to order. A few MONTHS later it arrived.

I like the new plan. For my attention span MONTHS for my excellent quilt to arrive smothered my interest in placing another order. My TQ is beautiful and I am glad I own it but the wait was just too long.

Often it is difficult to keep quality standards when items are made by human hands that are over worked, big spikes are not good for quality.

I like set your best price, sell your best product and skip the spikes.

Until the last couple of years I bought "Sale" most of the time. I stopped the practice last year, because I feel the meaning of our holidays has been degraded and marketing frenzy has replaced the REASON we have holidays.

I was fully aware of the delay when I purchased my quilt so it didn't bother me--the savings was well worth it to me. Seems like if you don't want to wait several months or don't like the commercialization of the holidays, then simply avoid ordering from the holiday sales.

And while I'm not a fan of businesses who artificially inflate their prices so that they can offer everything at a "special" sale discount (i.e. regular price), I'm curious if George dropped his prices at all when he decided not to do sales anymore and put his best price forward... (not that I'm implying they were artificially inflated, I was just wondering if his decision lowered the prices or not).

In all honesty I don't think that many of the premium quilt makers are getting the "right" money. We didn't have to lower our prices as they are as low as I feel is reasonable given the cost of labor and materials.

I might just have to suck it up and pony up the cash then...

I have purchased 3 quilts from LL. 1 UQ and 2 TQ. Every one has been worth the wait and standard price. His company's work is beyond exceptional.

Also, I have made my own top quilts before.... and I simply don't understand how the cottage industry gets by on such small margins for the hours of labor required to make each quilt. The materials aren't cheap either.

Well worth the asking price.

Good things come to those who wait, especially for LLG quilts. They are the GOLD standard in quality. I only own a zero degree Habanero, but will be desiring the Ghost pepper TQ next.

You'll love George's quilts but check his delivery dates as he just eluded to a life changing event in another thread. Lets just hope he's OK.
