any thoughts? i am a bit on the heavy side (295lbs) and the weight capacity says 400lbs...i wanted to do a full blown DIY setup, but for 35 bucks you cant go wrong? and more importantly i just wanna hang!

That's a good deal for sure, on that model.

Here is the manufacturer's site:

I've looked at the travel hammock ultralight in the past and never ended up buying it because I kept reminding myself it didn't have the best potential for comfort.

The DIY advantage is that one can have a bug net as well as make an asym or bridge design for added comfort.

...but I don't want to rain on the parade. If you just want to get out and hang it looks like a great idea.

I bought one of those (it's really a Grand Trunk), only I got the double. Nice, comfy hammock.

The thing to keep in mind, with all of those bottom end, mass produced hammocks is, the suspensions suck. You will, at some point, spend some $ upgrading the suspension.

By contrast, a diy will have a suspension of your choosing from the gitgo, and you will have spent less loot, to boot.

Getting back to a hammock you buy, the Warbonnet Traveller 1.7 double is a very good buy...hell for stout, well built in America, and a suspension that's as good as they come.

Had I seen that before I got my sewing machine, I probably would have got one,,,, However, I have been hitting every Walmart I find and picking up that $1.50 a yard material.
For $34.00 bucks, I can make 5 of those now at $6.00 for a hammock.

A DIY is the way to go if ya can,,,, But nothing wrong with the GT either,,,

i did want to go DIY, but because of the weight issue, i wasn't sure what fabric to use, more research i guess...

Speaking of GT and cabelas.... does anyone know if the "Grand Trunk Skeeter Beater Hammock" is the same as the "Travel HammockŪ Mosquito Hammock" at Cabelas?
