Hi! I'm Doug. Relatively new to hammocking, but wishing I had discovered it long ago! I'm the proud owner of a WBBB, and various and sundry UQs and TQs and tarps. I do most of my backpacking in Va, WV and PA. I like long days and, thanks to my hammock, very restful nights!

Yeah, as I think about all those nights on the ground, using 2 & 3 pads & still waking up stiff, I wish I had discovered hammocks sooner than I did:)
Welcome to HF Doug.

Welcome Doug! You're in the perfect location to come to the MAHHA hang (http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14178&highlight=mahha)next month. You're so close you could come for the weekend, a day, or even a few hours. You'll meet a ton of hangers and learn sooooo much DIY stuff will make your hammock spin! Great time. Think about it!

Hi Doug! Bowie High School 1978, grew up in the M section, later Forest Drive off 301S. Come to MAHHA, we can carpool, I'm in Silver Spring (http://www.silverspringsingular.com/) (only one spring, now plugged up in the urban mecca but memorialized as Acorn Park (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acorn_Park)).

Welcome to the forum. I have relatives in Bowie. My father grew up in Silver Springs (went to HS with Ben Stein and Goldie Hawn).DuctTape, I live three blocks from your dad's former Montgomery Blair High School. In 1998, MBHS (http://www.mbhs.edu/) moved two miles away to Four Corners, just outside the Beltway (yes, that Beltway, the one to which the pundits refer! -- I'm "Inside the Beltway" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inside_the_Beltway)). In 1999, the old Blair interior opened as an elementary and middle school, where my sons attended and are attending. Most of the school exterior, including the historical elevation, roof, and cupola are preserved. The new Blair pays homage to the original by incorporating a cupola.

Thanks for the invite! I'm relatively new to hammocking and I'm sure I there's a LOT I could learn on proper setup and such. I'll put it on my calendar!
