Grace lake Killarney

Hi all.

Summer's just flown by, but I just wanted to remind everyone about the Killarney hang at the end of the month. If we're lucky, Killarney might be in the full glory of her autumn colours.

Arrival Date: Wed 25-Sep-19
Departure Date: Sun 29-Sep-19
Access Point: George Lake
Destination: Killarney Lake Basecamp.

Hope to see everyone there!

I am planning to paddle in early on the 27th and paddle out leisurely on the 30th.

Hopefully I will have finished making my yoke by then.

I will paddle in on Friday as well and leave on Sunday. Iguana, what time are you planning to be at the access point?

Chard

For a number of reasons, I was also thinking of changing the reservation for a Friday 27th - Sunday 29th trip.

Lofty, did you have reservations of your own already or were you going to join the main EGL permit?

Does anyone know what time the permit office opens?

So far we have nine.

Isn't nine the maximum for the permit? Am I SOL?

It’s too bad about the nature of booking Killarney. I was looking forward to it since I couldn’t make the French. If anyone has to back out keep me in mind.

I'm afraid that nine's the limit. I think, going forward, that we should always get two permits just in case.

Maybe we can make it up to you by organizing a follow-up trip to Algonquin asap to try and catch the colours. Ralph Bice, Pen or Parkside Bay could be options. Anyone else interested?

Oh, BTW, I wonder if Killarney PP keeps a couple of sites free on each lake as backup.

Pretty sure the three of us, want to do an October trip, so Algonquin works ..... just need to work through the timing

Emma and I would be interested any weekend other than Thanksgiving (Oct 14 weekend).
BTW someone looking for help in another post in this section for the north or GTA area for next week I'm sure an EGL'r or two can assist?

I appreciate the offer. I’m just disappointed that I planned this in the Spring and now I can’t go because I didn’t post soon enough. It is what it is.

Bubba,

I will give you my spot. I will go to Minden to practice the canoe slalom instead.

So kind of you but I managed to book a couple of nearby lakes so I can still camp with the group.

Just an FYI in case anyone is interested ... Rand, Bob and I plan to stay an extra night and come out on Monday ... we have the extra day on a permit. So if anyone wants to stay the extra day ... it is possible.

Sounds good. 14 and 17 with 23 as an alternate. I wonder how 15, 24 and 18 are though.

Hi gang,

I just spoke with 76 Highboy, who at this point would have been travelling in alone on Wednesday, and we agreed to delay the start of this little expedition to Thursday, Sept 26.

I'll make the necessary changes to the reservation. I'm aiming to be at the Park office by 8am'ish.

Bubba

I was able to shift my vacation days a day early so I’m aiming to arrive at the office around 8:00 on Thursday as well. Looking forward to paddling in with company.
