I have not purchased a big piece of gear in several years. I pulled the trigger on a custom 20 degree Serrano with a few bells and whistles. It is my first loco libre quilt. Haven’t been this excited in quite some time. Anyone else waiting on new gear?

Heres mine. I chose the colors because it reminds me of molten lava coming out of volcanos and hardening on top as it cools and moves.

Size: 75" - WIDE width 800 fill power duck down
Outer Shell Color: Black Argon 90
Inner Shell Color: Burnt Orange Argon 90
Outer Stitching Color: Orange
Inner Stitching Color: Match Inner Fabric Color
Neck Draft Collar: Yes Please!
Taper: 10" Full Taper
Foot Box Style: Insulated "Hot Box" Foot Box
Extra Down: 2 ounces 800 duck down
Dee Ring Pad Attachment: Yes Please, I Sleep On A Pad

Yep, me too. I am anxiously awaiting the delivery of a Loco Libre UQ. 0-degree jungle pepper. 900 goose down with 3oz of extra 900 goose down. I think that should keep me pretty warm :)

Hey Lamboy, when did you order yours? Mine was ordered on Oct 28th I think. If you ordered yours first can I have your spot in line? Haha...

I just ordered a ghostpepper 0 degree TQ w/ 2 extra oz. of 800 fill. This is my first major purchase. I'm on the road to building a rig. This weekend I plan to order the Warbonnet Yeti 0 degree UQ with extra down if I can. I'm actually having to donate plasma to afford all of this! Lol! I still have to get a pack, a tarp, a Darien and a Chameleon! This stuff is addicting! I love it!

I just ordered material for an underquilt repair, a new underquilt, and a hammock from ripstopbytheroll, and yes. The wait will kill me. I'm pretty sure that the shorter the wait, the shorter your patience level.

I have 3 LLG quilts, but this is the only one I have pics of. The other 2 are a 50° set from the Operator series.

-20° Carolina Reaper: 900FP +3oz, Black Argon 90 outer with orange stitching, Burnt Orange Argon 67 inner with black stitching, orange grosgrain trim. It's a hefty quilt, to be sure. Almost time to bring it out for the season!

That's a beauty! I'm ordering my underquilt tomorrow while I wait for the topquilt. I'll get a 900 fill with 2 extra oz. of fill in a 0 degree bag. Will the extra ounces bring it to below zero I assume? Maybe -10?

I think I remember reading that each ounce of down equals about 5 degrees extra so if that's true then a 0 degree with an extra 2 ounce should be around -10 degree

I personally don't think so. The temp rating is mostly a function of the loft (thickness) of the quilt, which is determined by the fabric shells and the mesh baffles that form the tubes the down is stuffed into. When more down is added, the quilt shell still has the same baffles, so the extra fill doesn't change the loft height - assuming the standard amount of fill is adequate to fully loft the baffles in the first place. The cottage vendors here are generally all known for being generous with the down, even without overstuff.

What adding extra down will do is make the quilt more resilient to a couple of the factors that can reduce loft in less than ideal conditions, i.e. real-world conditions. One of those factors is down migration, where the down shifts inside the baffle tubes, resulting in heavier concentration of down in some areas leaving other areas with lesser fill (reducing loft in those spots). Another is reduced loft overall due to the quilt taking on moisture over the course of a multi day trip or prolonged exposure to body oils, for example. Having more down in the quilt provides a greater buffer against these factors.

So IMHO, adding overstuff is not about making the quilt a lower temp rating; it's more like insurance to preserve the rating that the quilt had in the first place, which is based on the cut of its fabric determining the height of its baffles.

I got the extra down for those above reasons myself not for extra temp really. In addition i stack quilts in deep winter so i wanted a little more resistance against compression because my over quilt is not oversized. I end up in bad weather more often than I like to admit. Lets just say I made it rain in the Grand Canyon the one day we hiked....

If i was given an obvious trail name it would likely be rain man or something to do with rain. I cant remember the last trip i was on that rain wasnt involved.

I'm going to be ordering a ridge reaper in the next week or two. I'm hoping there will be a black Friday sale. Not that I want to short change em just that it will leave me more savings towards a top quilt from them. Looks like fantastic gear!

Yes that is an E.E. Revelation (formally synthetic prodigy 40F). I sent George some of the clips that EE uses instead of the D rings for his quilt so that I could mate both quilts with the EE layer straps I like. Another reason I went with Loco Libre.

Yours is heading out tomorrow morning. Unfortunately fedex screwed up my last down delivery and the 800 took 2 1/2 weeks to get here:scared:. It's frustrating to watch your order get rescheduled every day, and it moves further away each time. After 6 days in north jersey I placed a very nice, polite phone call:rolleyes:, and viola, it came the next day.

For anyone concerned, we fell behind the beginning of the month due to illness, but we are only 6 quilts off from being back on our 6 week lead time.

I got a Ridge Reaper 0 degree UQ in a Forest green with black inside, a 0 degree Ghost Pepper TQ in forest green outside and black inside. Sewn foot box. All max over stuffed with the goose down. So excited!

I just submitted my order for a 10 degree Carolina Reaper UQ and a 20 degree Ghost Pepper TQ. I talked to George [the owner] and he was fantastic. He answered all of my questions and made sure I knew everything about what I was buying. I'm really excited about getting to use them.

...and now I wait.

When I get them in, I'll post a review after using it.

I'm coming up on 16 weeks for my quilt, and when I go to check the order status it still says "Awaiting Processing". Does anyone know if that changes once it starts getting worked on? I'm not in a big rush, its a winter UQ, I just want to make sure theres not some hang up or something I need to email them about.

I learned my lesson after the UQ I ordered. Took a look at it, hung in it once (0 degree with overstuff in the summer, it was a bad idea) and ordered a 0F TQ to match! Should get here in December sometime so I can put it through its paces this winter.

Got my Timmermade quilt in the mail yesterday.

Ordered on Aug 6 with queue of 14 weeks, so it was right at 13 weeks, 6 days.

Quilt looks fantastic, although with 50deg rating I won't get to use it until next spring. But just assessing the loft it appears it will work for me down to 40deg or maybe a bit lower... even though the baffles are sewn-thru, zero gaps in the down, unlike my old EE Rev 50deg that's getting a little long in the tooth. But that one does need a wash after 10 years.
